By BILL SHEA Messenger staff writer Some Fort Dodge area World War II veterans now know that their country still appreciates the sacrifices they made 65 years ago to help win history’s largest conflict. The former soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines were cheered, applauded and embraced on just about every step of their journey from home to the national World War II Memorial Saturday.
